收藏: FAILE (Patrick McNeil, b. 1975, and Patrick Miller, b. 1976)
FAILE is the artistic collaboration between Patrick McNeil (b. 1975, Edmonton, Canada) and Patrick Miller (b. 1976, Minneapolis, USA). Renowned for their eclectic blend of street art, pop culture, and fine art techniques, FAILE has established itself as a major force in the contemporary art world. The duo, who met during their teenage years in Arizona, officially formed FAILE in 1999 after moving to New York City, where their work became an integral part of the urban art scene.
The name FAILE—an anagram of their early project A Life—reflects the themes of imperfection, humanity, and resilience that run through their art. Their pieces are characterized by vibrant collages of appropriated imagery, bold text, and intricate patterns, drawing inspiration from sources as varied as vintage advertisements, comic books, pulp fiction, and religious iconography.
FAILE is best known for its innovative approach to street art, which incorporates both traditional and experimental techniques, from stenciling and wheat-pasting to sculpture and large-scale installations. Their art often explores themes of nostalgia, consumerism, and spirituality, creating a dialogue between past and present cultural narratives.
The duo has exhibited in prestigious galleries and museums worldwide, including solo exhibitions at the Tate Modern in London and the Brooklyn Museum in New York. They are also celebrated for their interactive public art projects, such as the monumental Temple installation in Lisbon and the Deluxx Fluxx Arcade series, which blends art and technology.
FAILE continues to push boundaries, merging urban art with fine art practices, while staying true to their roots in street culture. Their work remains a testament to the power of collaboration and creativity in navigating an ever-evolving cultural landscape.
